Has anyone purchased and used this album? Is it true that some of the coins don't fit into the spots?
I like the fact it has more coins including the 2009 Lincoln cent than the 7070. With the prices I'm seeing on the bay, I'm thinking I might go this route.
That is if all the coins actually fit into the spots.I have 4 Dansco albums and love them, but I can't see spending upwards of $100 on a book I'm going to fill. My LCS said he'd order me a book when he placed the next order.
If they do come in I'm going to buy them. I'm not counting on it as I'm not able to find one outside of eBay. Even the one with pen marks are selling for $45+. I have the Intercept Shield type set. The braided hair large cent does not fit (I have it in there, but it is crammed) and the capped bust dime fits tight.
They included a new page for the cent although I have not swapped them out to determine if it fits better. They also included another extra page to fix a type on the Jefferson 'Peace Medal' nickel as it was spelled 'Peace Metal.' Overall I am pleased with the book, but have never had a Dansco and was not about to drop $100 on one. Once Dansco releases their new one I might get one and start a second set.
So far it is almost filled and the other coins fit great. Click to expand.Just to clarify, Dansco discontinued their current 7070 album some time ago. They also do not have a website. They are an old-school company. Currently, the only Dansco's you can find on-line are on eBay and nice used ones can go for $100 or more. I called Dansco and they said they are releasing a new updated 7070 later this year. They did not give an actual date other than to say it will be in 2013.
I also have been looking for an album and read about the problems with the Intercept type albums. I decided to wait until later this year to get a Dansco. Plus, I like the fact that they are made in the US vs. China where the Intercept album is made.
Good things come to those who wait. Just to clarify, Dansco discontinued their current 7070 album some time ago. They also do not have a website. They are an old-school company. Currently, the only Dansco's you can find on-line are on eBay and nice used ones can go for $100 or more.

My 2 cents:I have 5 or so Danscos, but of course, couldn't find a 7070 at a reasonable price. So I went with the Intercept Shield type set album.Pros: It comes with a slipcase, it looks nice, it has better selections for the coins included.Cons: It's made in China, some holes are just off a little bit size-wise, it's an island of green in my sea of brown (coin albums, that is).I'd recommend it, but some holes (I'm thinking of the ASE and one large cent hole in particular) you'll really have to cram the coin in, hard. So keep that in mind. I called Dansco but got a message saying they were closed until January 8th. So, needless to say, we're starting the year over again, or they need to update their machine. I'll try again later and see if anyone answers.I'd really like to get the IS because it does have a lot of the new coins after 1999 that the Dansco album doesn't have. I just don't know if I want to possibly ruin a coin just because I want it in an album.
I do know what you mean about having the green in the middle of brown.I guess I'll see what they have to say. If a new one is going to be released soon I will just wait for that as I'm sure it will include the updated coins. I have both Dansco and Intercept and I use the Intercept for the better coins you can see it on youtube search for richcali21its the U.S.
Type Set with almost all first year coins. I think its just preference unless the Intercept protection is better? Dont know for sure but they are the newest of the two and they say a lot about the protection they give I have seen no toning though in either album. Good Luck doesnt matter which way you go it will be fun to fill regardless of all my albums the U.S.
Type Set is by far my favorite!
